At MOD, we know that it’s not success that leads to happiness, but the other way around. In his 2011 TED Talk, Harvard professor Shawn Achor talks about how when your brain is in “positive mode” you actually have a much greater chance at success in both work and life. And that’s why we are so invested in keeping our MOD Squad happy. So how do we do it? Studies have shown that two of the best ways to increase happiness are to experience giving and to elicit feelings of gratitude.
We are dedicated to providing our MOD Squad with opportunities to experience the empowering effects of giving first-hand, through charity partnerships, fundraisers and events like Spreading MODness. On top of making us happier, giving has countless benefits that reach far beyond the recipient. It makes us healthier. It promotes social connection. It evokes gratitude. And best of all, it’s contagious – creating a ripple effect that benefits the entire community. Pretty cool, huh?
Watch Harvard Professor, Shawn Achor’s TED Talk on “The happy secret to better work.” It’s fascinating stuff – and pretty darn entertaining too!
